BCIV Newsletter - June 2026: Global Connections & Upcoming Opportunities

Dear BCIV Community,

It has been a vibrant season of international exchange at the Boulder Council for International Visitors (BCIV). From exploring the frontiers of space to addressing critical energy infrastructure, our recent programs have fostered meaningful connections that span the globe.


A Look Back: Engaging the Rising Generation of Space Nations

On April 15th, BCIV had the privilege of hosting 20 young professionals for the Multiregional IVLP: Engaging the Rising Generation of Space Nations. This remarkably diverse cohort represented Angola, Australia, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador, Fiji, Finland, Hungary, India, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Portugal, Senegal, Slovenia, Sweden, Tunisia, and Türkiye.

During their day in Boulder, the group engaged with the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), the Aerospace Engineering Sciences department, and CU Venture Partners.

We were thrilled to hear that the delegates found their meetings and connections in Boulder more informative and impactful than the Space Symposium they had previously attended in Colorado Springs. A memorable highlight of the day was when the six women in the group insisted on a dedicated photo session in front of our iconic Flatiron backdrop—a powerful moment for a group of rising leaders.



Looking Forward: Citizen Diplomacy & New Programs

Strengthening Local Ties

We are excited to share that BCIV has applied for a Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund grant. This initiative aims to launch a speaker series this fall that engages Fulbright Alumni and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, fostering deeper dialogue between the university and the wider Boulder community. Stay tuned for further updates on this project!

Upcoming Visiting Groups

Our calendar remains busy with impactful programming:

June 12: IVLP – India Power Grid Security. The delegation will engage with CU Boulder’s engineering and law schools, RASEI, and the Rocky Mountain Institute to discuss sustainable transportation and electrification.

June 15: The same India delegation will continue their programming in Fort Collins, touring the Powerhouse and consulting with experts on power grid security.

June 27 & 29: IVLP – Italy Cyber Resilience. Programming includes a day of engagement with local resources (June 29) and a community-focused Happy Hour Potluck on June 27 (5–7 PM) at the new KGNU facility.

July 1 or 3 & July 2: IVLP – Promoting Market-Based Advances in Forest Governance (Indonesia). This group will enjoy a full day of programming in Boulder on July 2, with a shared half-day session in Fort Collins occurring on either July 1 or July 3.
